Does Insurance Cover Teen Treatment?

Often, yes. We’re in-network with United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Curative, and we work with many other plans through their out-of-network benefits. The fastest way to know what your plan covers is to let us verify your benefits, free, no obligation.

Have United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna or Curative? You’re in-network.

Your teen’s IOP or PHP is covered under your plan’s standard terms. We’ll confirm your deductible, copay, and out-of-pocket max before you begin. UnitedHealthcare plans are in-network for admissions starting September 1, 2026.

Have another insurer? You may still be covered.

Don’t assume the door is closed. Many PPO plans include out-of-network (OON) benefits, and a lot of our families use them. The difference from in-network is small, because we do the insurance work for you:

What will it cost?

With out-of-network care, the main difference is cost, and we’ll be honest about it.

After we verify your benefits, we’ll walk you through how your deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket max apply. But your exact cost depends on the “allowed amount” your insurer sets for each service, and that isn’t final until claims process and EOBs are issued. Even similar-looking plans can pay differently.

We will give you the clearest estimate we can up front, and keep you posted as your benefits are applied.

No out-of-network benefits?

If your plan has no out-of-network benefits, we can request a Single Case Agreement (SCA) — asking your insurer to cover us as in-network for your teen. We’ll build the case around your teen’s clinical needs, which is what insurers weigh most. Approval isn’t guaranteed and typically depends on documented medical necessity and a lack of comparable in-network options for your family.

Why families choose us — even out of network

What sets us apart:

Many of these families tried in-network first and found it didn’t fit, didn’t have space, or didn’t specialize in their teen’s needs.
