Anxiety is one of the most common reasons families come to Center for Teens. If your teen is overwhelmed by worry, avoiding school or friends, or stuck in constant stress, our outpatient anxiety treatment helps them learn to manage it and feel like themselves again. We treat adolescents ages 12–17 in Sugar Land and across the greater Houston area.
Signs your teen may need anxiety treatment
- Persistent, hard-to-control worry that’s out of proportion to the situation
- Avoiding school, friends, or activities they used to enjoy (including school refusal)
- Physical complaints like headaches, stomachaches, or trouble sleeping
- Restlessness, irritability, or trouble concentrating
We treat generalized, social, and separation anxiety, often alongside related concerns like depression or emotional dysregulation.
How we treat teen anxiety
Our care is built on evidence-based, skills-focused therapies – Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Teens learn to understand their anxiety, challenge anxious thinking, and use concrete tools to calm their bodies and minds. Depending on how much anxiety is affecting daily life, treatment may be our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Choosing the right level of care
- IOP – 3 hours a day, 3 days a week; teens keep attending school. Click here to Learn more about our IOP program.
